Standards: Except as otherwise indicated, comply with American Institute for Timber <br /> Construction "Standards for Heavy Timber Construction" AITC 108, as applicable to <br /> work. <br /> <br /> B. Grading of Timber: Provide timber graded by a recognized agency, with rules and service <br /> complying with requirements of American Lumber Standards Committee and PS 20. <br /> <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> <br />2.01 TIMBER FRAMING REINFORCEMENT: <br /> <br /> A. Connectors, Anchors, Accessories: Provide fabricated structural steel (ASTM A 36) <br /> shapes, plates and bars, welded into assemblies of the types and sizes indicated, with <br /> steel bolts (ASTM A 307), lag bolts (FS FF-B 561) and other standard fasteners as <br /> required. <br /> <br /> 1. Finish each assembly and fastener unit with hot-dip zinc coating (ASTM A 153). <br /> Electroplated galvanized or other substandard galvanized hardware will <br /> not be allowed. Only top quality, corrosion resistant hardware will be <br /> allowed. <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 INSTALLATION: <br /> <br /> A. General: Erect supplemental or replacement framing true and plumb or as necessary to <br /> conform with configuration of existing framing members. Provide temporary bracing as <br /> required to maintain lines and levels until permanent supporting members are in place. <br /> <br /> B. Predrill prior to installation of reinforcing rods, anchors, bolts, etc. to minimize splitting <br /> and/or stress on existing timbers. <br /> <br /> C. Install miscellaneous steel connectors, anchors, and accessories as indicated. Concealed <br /> installation is required in all exposed locations. <br /> <br /> D. Handle and temporarily support members to prevent visible surface damage. <br /> <br /> E.
