Paris Santa Fe-Frisco Depot Rehabilitation ©KEYSTONE ARCHITECTS <br /> July 10, 2001 <br /> <br /> DIVISION 00 BIDDING REQUIREMENTS, CONTRACT <br /> FORMS & CONDITIONS OF THE CONTRACT <br /> <br /> SECTION 00500 HISTORIC PRESERVATION STANDARDS <br /> <br /> PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> <br /> 1.01 GENERAL STANDARDS FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION PROJECTS: The <br /> following standards are derived from the federal Secretary of the Interior Standards for <br /> Rehabilitation for historic structures and sites and are applicable to this project and to all work <br /> performed in conjunction with its rehabilitation. <br /> <br /> Every reasonable effort shall be made to provide a compatible use for a property that <br /> requires minimal alteration of the building, structure, or site and its environment, or to <br /> use a property for its originally intended purpose. <br /> <br />B. The distinguishing original qualifies or character of a building, structure, or site and its <br /> environment shall not be destroyed. The removal or alteration of any historic material or <br /> distinctive Architectural features should be avoided when possible. <br /> <br />C. All buildings, structures, and sites shall be recognized as products of their own time. <br /> Alterations which have no historical basis and which seek to create an earlier appearance <br /> shall be discouraged. <br /> <br />F. Changes which may have taken place in the course of time are evidence of the history <br /> and development of a building structure, or site and its environment. These changes <br /> may have a acquired significance in their own fight, and this significance shall be <br /> recognized and respected. <br /> <br />G. Distinctive stylistic features or examples of skilled craftsmanship which characterize a <br /> building, structure, or site shall be treated with sensitivity. <br /> <br />H. Deteriorated Architectural features shall be repaired rather than replaced, wherever <br /> possible. In the event replacement is necessary, the new material should match the <br /> material be'rog, replaced in composition, design, color, texture, and other qualities. <br /> Repair or replacement of missing Architectural features should be based on accurate <br /> duplications of features, substantiated by historical, physical, or pictorial evidence rather <br /> than on conjectural designs or the availab'flity of different architectural elements from <br /> other buildings or stmctores, <br /> <br /> Document 00500 <br /> Page 1-4 <br /> <br /> <br />
