WHEREAS, it has been called to the attention of the City Council, on several occasions prior to this date, that due to the increased traffic in the Police I?epartment of the City of Paris, that the quarters, which is occupied by the Police IJepartment, is inadequate and insufficient for efficient police operations, and is not convenient for those citizens that deal with the Police Department, in that it is in an upsta.irs location, and many of them are elderly or crippled and have difficulty in negoti.a.ting in climbing and descending of the sta.irs; and, WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council of the Gity of Paris that the building immediately North of the present City Hall, being described as Part of Lot 1 in Block No. 15 of the City of paris, and being a lot fronting on the East Side of lst Street, S. E. 20 feet and extending East and West 108 feet, can be purchased from the owners, Mary Ann Barnes and Vicky Lynn Barnes, for the consideration of $6, 500. 00 cash; and, W HE REAS, it is the opinion of the C ity C ounc il of the C ity of Pa,ris that the property is well worth the above sum; and, W HE REAS, it is the opi.nion of the C ity C ounc il that the s ame is necessary for the future growth and development of the municipal func- tions of the City of Faris, and with particular reference to the operations of the Paris Police I?epartment; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PAR7S, That the City Manager, H. C. Kennemer, be, and he is hereby authorized to purchase such building and lot from Mary Ann Barnes and Vicky Lynn Barnes, and to pay therefor the sum of $6, 500. 00 cash, said payment to be made from the Water Building Fund. passed and adopted this lOth day of I?ecember, A.
