R.ESOLUTION NO, 1015 . <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas, has for some <br />time been awar e of the congestion of the traffic on most of the U. S. <br />Highways, Sta,te Highways, and Farm to Market Road s, leading into and <br />through the City of Paris, and the City is fully aware of the already exist- <br />ing congestinn of traffic on said highways during certai.n hour s of the day; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, within recent years considerable new development has <br />been taking place in the City of Pa,ris, Texas, and in particular some rather <br />large industries are located around the perixneter of the City of Pa,ris, and <br />which, in the opinion of the City C o uncil, will in the future aggr avate the <br />already traffic congestion; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Gity of Paris has been unable to determine just what <br />a ction should be take n in o rder to cor rect and remedy the movement of <br />traffic on said highways and around the public square in the City of Paris; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESQLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL aF THE CITY OF PARI,S, <br />That the State Highway Department, through its traffic engineers, be re- <br />quested to make a traffic study of the various highways le ading into and <br />through the City of Paris, Texas, and make a finding of the condition of <br />such traffic congestion, and that said traffic engineers recommend to the <br />City of Paris what steps may be taken on the part of the City to remedy <br />the traffic c onge stion and cause the traffic to flow into an d throug h the <br />City more rapidly and on a more satisfactory basis. That the recommenda- <br />tions, consider first, cost of the remedy and the most effective things that <br />may be done within the budgeta.ry means of the City of Paris. <br />Passed and adopted this 23rd day of July, A.
