RESOLUTION NO. 1006 . <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris has been petitioned <br />on several occasions in the past year or two for the re-zoning from a <br />residential to a commercia,l classification or from a lower commercia.l <br />classification to a higher commercia.l classification, under the zoning or- <br />dinances of the City of Pa.ris, and on frequent occasions euch petitions are <br />not accompanied by any intended use of the property or any plans of the <br />type and kind of structure to be placed on the property sought to be re- <br />zoned; and, <br />WHEREAS, there are in eome of the commerci.al classifications some <br />types of busineeses that would, in all probability, be undesirable for an area <br />in which there were residences; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Gity Council does not feel that it is to the best in- <br />terest of the citizens of the City of Paris, as a whole, to continue adopting <br />amendments to the Zoning Ordinance which change the property to a higher <br />commercial classification without any knowledge of what use is actually in- <br />tended to be made of the property in the area sought to be re-zoned; NOW, <br />THE RE FORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CZTY COUNCTL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />That the City Council of the City of Paris does hereby adopt the following <br />policy regarding changes of zoning classification from residential to a higher <br />classification, or from a lower commercial classification to a higher <br />commercial classification: <br />The City Council of the City of Paris hereafter will not look with <br />favor upon petitions for amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, for <br />zoning clasaifieations from residenrial to any commercia.l clasaifi- <br />cation, or from a lower commercial classification to a higher <br />commercial classificata.on, unless and until the City Council is <br />definitely assured what bueineas or type of s#ructure vvill be con- <br />ducted or constructed in the area sought to be re-zoned. <br />Passed and adopted this l lth day of April, A.
