• <br />f3ESOLUTION N0. 820 . <br />• <br />WHEREAS, it has been called to the attention of the City Council, <br />and upon investigation the City Covncil of the City of Paris has found that <br />a dire necessity exists for school guards on Clarksville Street near the <br />East Paris School, on Graham Street at its intersection with 7th St., N. W. <br />near the Graham School, and on Pine Bluff Street near the Fourth Ward School; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, the Council is of the opinion that an amergency exists; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, it has been recommended to the City Council of the City of <br />Paris by the City Manager, Albert K. Steinheimer, that the City employ school <br />guards to be placed to patrol the crossings of the aforesaid mentioned <br />streets in the vicinity of the aforesaid schools, in order to protect the <br />lives and safety of school children going to and from the various respective <br />schools; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended that the City Council trans- <br />fer from its Contingent Fund the sum of $2,100.00 to pay the salaries of <br />three patrols, at $75.00 per month, to purchase caps and shirts, and the <br />necessary equipment for such school guards. That the Gity Manager has <br />recommended that said sum be transferred from the Contingent Fund to the <br />Traffic Fund in the Budget, No. 408-4-39 and that the said gvards be paid <br />from that fund after the same has been transferred; NOW, IHEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, That the <br />recomraendation of the City Manager be, and the same is hereby approved, and <br />he is authorized and directed to employ three school guards at $75.00 per <br />month, to be located on Clarksville Street near the East Paris School, one <br />on Pine Bluff Street near the Fourth Ward School, and one on Graham Street at <br />its intersection with 7th St.0 N. W. near the Graham School, and that the <br />recommendati0n of the City Manager be approved that there be transferred from <br />the Contingent Fund of the City Council, in the Budget for the year 1958-599 <br />the sum of $2,100.00, to the Traffic Fund, No. 408-A-3, in said budget. <br />Passed and adopted this 9th day of September, A.
