Regular Council Meeting <br />August 13, 2012 <br />Page 2 <br />Maralene Rose, 2710 W. Brame - she thanked the public works for a good job with <br />regard to sanitation. She said she worked for the City for forty years and asked that the Council <br />reinstate the cost of living adjustment for retirees that was discontinued in 2008. <br />Charles Whitley, 735 381h SE - he said he retired in 1990 and asked that the Council <br />reinstate the cost of living adjustment for retirees. <br />Tommy Haynes, 3095 Abbott - he said he retired in 2004 and asked that the Council <br />reinstate the COLA to 100%. <br />T.K. Haynes, 650 31S` Street - he said he worked in the legal department for over thirty <br />years and was also requesting that the COLA for retirees be reinstated to 100%. <br />Deanna Manning, 2965 Cypress - she said she worked for the City for over twenty-nine <br />years and would also like to see the COLA reinstated for retirees. <br />Stephen Holmes, 535 NE 33rd - he said he was employed for twenty-six years at the <br />police department and the cost of living had gone up, that health insurance and cost of living <br />benefits were cut. He said he would like to see the COLA reinstated for retirees. <br />Marlene Hutchings, 2975 Hubbard - he said she warked in water billing for twenty-five <br />years and would like to see the COLA reinstated for retirees. <br />Wanda Tharp, 1880 E. Washington - she said that she worked in water billing for <br />twenty-five years and agreed with the other retirees. <br />Mel Rose - he said he retired in 1997 and asked that COLA be reinstated for retirees. <br />Joe Julian, 545 Wilburn - he said he worked thirty years in the police department and <br />along with the other retirees, asked that the COLA be reinstated. <br />Gary Ballew, 777 Bonham - he said he was the new director of New Hope Center, <br />formerly Models of the Maker. He said the agreement with the City was that they use the funds <br />allocated for only capital improvements at the group's facility. Mr. Ballew asked that the City <br />Council approve the Center using the funds for whatever was needed, such as maintenance or <br />operating costs. <br />5. Public Announcements. <br />a. Proclamation declaring the month of August 811 Safe Digging Month. <br />Mayor Hashmi declared the month of August 811 as Safe Digging Month and presented <br />Atmos representative Janette Moser with a proclamation. <br />2 <br />
