' ~ . <br />6^JI-EREAS, increased vehicular traffic within the corporate limits of <br />the City of Paris has resulted in many highly technical and difficult traffic <br />problems, requiring special consideration and attention in an effort to seek <br />a solution to many of such problems; and, whereas, many citizens have found <br />it feasible and desirable to create a Board or Body of local citizens willing <br />and able to devote time and attention to the consideration and proposal of <br />measures designed to minimize the traffic problems resulting from such in- <br />creased vehicular traffic; NOW TI-EREFORE, <br />BE IT RESO LVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: <br />That a Traffic Commission, composed of nine (9) members be, and the <br />same is hereby authorized and created, the membership of which shall be <br />filled by appointment of the Mayor. Three (3) of such members shall be <br />appointed to serve for an initial term of one (1) year; three (3) others <br />shall be appointed to serve for a term of two (2) years; and the remaining <br />three (3) members shall be appointed to serve for a term of three (3) years. <br />Thereafter all members shall be appointed or reappointed for terms of three <br />(3) years. Any vacancy occurring during the term of any such member shall <br />be filled by appointment of the PAayor, upon recommendation of the majority of <br />the remaining members of said comnission. <br />The City Engineer of the City of Paris shall serve as ex officio <br />member of said Comnission, but shall not be entitled to vote on any matter <br />on which final action is to be taken by said Commission. <br />The Traffic Commission herein and hereby created is authorized to con- <br />sider any and all problems relating to traffic or traffic problems of any kind <br />within the City of Paris, either of its own initiative or upon reference from <br />the City Council or the City Pdanager. Any decisions or recommendations of the <br />Traffic Commission shall be advisory only, but shall be referred to and fully <br />cnnsidered by the City Council. <br />Adopted this 8th day of Febrcaary, 1954. <br />►ce, <br />Mayor <br />ATTES T : <br />City Clerk. <br />
