His name was submitted by Betty Landon
after a suggestion from Priscilla McAnally. John Howison suggested
promoting library materials dealing with current world affairs.

Friends of the Library president, Callie Thompson, stated that the Friends
Luncheon would be held on October 1, 2001. People can also renew their
Friends membership when they sign up for the luncheon.

Betty Landon, Library Director, stated that new blinds had been installed
today on the east windows. John Howison and Betty Landon will attend the NETLS
quarterly meeting on October 9 in Mineola. The Paris Public Library will
participate in the TexShare program sponsored by the Texas State Library
beginning November 30, 2001. This will enable our patrons to use other
participating libraries and check out materials. In January, 2002, the library
will receive direct state aid of about $7,000. The two part-time positions at
the library become full-time October 1, 2001. Betty is working on scheduling
now to begin operating six days a week. The library is beginning a cd
collection of audio books. Strollers have been shipped, 2 for toddlers, 1 for
infants. TLA district meeting will be held this Saturday in Tyler, with
Priscilla McAnally attending. Betty will be speaking to the Lion's Club on
October 11.
