Paris Economic Development Corporation Meeting Minutes August 14, 2012 Board Members Staff Steve Gilbert, Paris EDC Present: Doug Wehrman, Chairman Present: Shannon Barrentine, Paris EDC Bruce Carr Fred Green, R3bi Director Bill Harris Kenny Dority Toni Clem (Joined at 3:03 p.m.) Ex-officio Members Guest(s) Present: John Godwin, City Manager Present: (Joined at 4:03 p.m.) Melissa Cook, Chamber President/CEO Jon Landers, Chamber Chairman Legal Counsel: Kent Mcllyar (Joined at 3:03 p.m.) City Council Liaison: Matt Frierson (Joined at 3:05 p.m.) Connie Beard, The Paris News Jeff Paris, eParisTexas.com Grant & Kelli Mallicote Doug Wehrman, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. Chairman Wehrman asked those present to stand for a moment of silence in honor of Jerry Bawcum. Chairman Wehrman stated that his goal for his frst official meeting of the Paris EDC Board was to keep the meetings to two hours, or less. It is an exciting time to be a part of the Paris community, a lot of growth is just around the corner for local industry and business. He asked the staffto keep the presentations brief with details in the printed materials provided each Board member. Minutes from July 10, 2012, Regular Board meeting and July 23, 2012 Called Board meeting were reviewed. Kenny Dority made a motion that the Minutes from the July 10 and 23, 2012 be approved as submitted; seconded by Bill Harris. Motion Carried 4-0. Chairman Wehrman referenced the new streamlined reporting of the monthly financials. He told those present that if they had questions, or needed further information, those details were available. Note: Toni Clem joined the meeting during financial discussion. Motion was made by Kenny Dority to approve the financial reports for June and July 2012 as submitted; seconded by Bruce Carr. Motion Carried 5-0. Steve Gilbert referenced the quarterly schedule report and reminded those present of the upcoming Chamber Membership Luncheon on Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Civic Center with Carlton Schwab, Executive Director of the Texas Economic Development Council as the keynote speaker on Type A vs. Type B sales tax. The previous evening he presented the Paris EDC Budget for FY 2012-13 to the Paris City Council. There wasn't official action taken. It was a very positive meeting with some very good questions asked and answered. The Paris EDC Budget will be included with the City's overall budget presentations for all mandatory public hearings, etc. to be officially adopted at a later date. Steve then asked Fred Green to give an over view of the recent Entrepreneur Boot Camp that was held at Texas A&M-Commerce on August 3Td and 4t".
