Mr. Fred Williams arrived at 5:42p.m.
4. Report, discussion and possible action on the findings of the sub-committee regarding an
open house/fly-in at the airport.
Ray Ball updated board members regarding the sub-committee meeting held on June 7,
2012. Mr. Ball stated we have contacted the Jim Terry, with the Pacific Prowler, wants
300 gallons of fuel and $450.00 per passenger with a guarantee of $6,800.00. The
committee came up with funding ideas to help pay for this. Solicit funds from
corporations for $1,000.00 each guaranteed two (2) VIP tickets to hand out to anyone they
wanted along with advertising there sponsorship. This would help cover the cost of
having the Pacific Prowler here. The committee further discussed advertising thru the
newspaper and radio, inviting food vendors and nonprofits to setup, securing port a pots,
parking being handled by a nonprofit (Boy Scouts) and let them charge a$1.00 a car,
securing additional entertainment like aerobatic display, gliders and RC displays. Mr. Ball
further stated we need commitment from board members to help with the event. At the
next board meeting we will have a proposed budget for the fly-in. Mr. Ball requested
authority from the board to secure the Pacific Prowler for the event. Chairman Copeland
stated $450.00 is a lot of money to purchase tickets to ride on an airplane. We should
explore different options; Jack Ashmore has contacts for other types of airplane rides that
are cheaper. Motion was by Fred Williams, seconded by Jerry Coyle authorizing Ray Ball
to look into getting a C47 in lieu of the B25 and booking it. Motion carried 5-0.
S. Report from Jerry Richey, Airport Manager.
Jerry Richey, Airport Manager made the report to board members. Mr. Richey stated one
of the courtesy cars is not running and needs to go to the shop. Shawn Napier stated we
are working on shifting cars around. Hay has been baled and stacked next to hangars and
will be moved within the next 30 days.
6. Request for future agenda items. Sub-committee report on fly-in.
7.
