Install expansion joints at locations indicated, where required by system manufacturer; where expansion <br />joints are indicated in substrates behind ElliS; where EIFS adjoins dissimilar substrates, materials, and <br />construction; where wall height changes; and at fl~ar ~ ~ .... ~*~"~ ..... ~ c ........ ,-.~.:-~ <br /> <br />Apply base coat to exposed surfaces of insulation in minimum thickness recommended in writing by <br />system manufacturer, but not less than 1/16-inch dry-coat thickness. <br /> <br />Completely embed reinforcing mesh, applying additional base-coat material if necessary, so reinforcing- <br />mesh color and pattern are not visible, in single or double layer application to comply with <br />ASTM PS 49 and system manufacturer's written requirements. Do not apply second layer until first <br />base coat layer has cured. <br /> <br />Additional Reinforcing Mesh: Apply strip reinforcing mesh around openings extending 4 inches be- <br />yond perimeter. Apply additional 9-by-12-inch strip reinforcing mesh diagonally at comers of openings <br />(re-entrant comers). Apply 8-inch wide strip reinforcing mesh at both inside and outside comers, unless <br />base layer of mesh is lapped not less than 4 inches on each side of comers. <br /> <br />1. At aesthetic reveals, apply strip reinforcing mesh not less than 8 inches wide. <br />2. Embed strip reinforcing mesh in base coat before applying first layer of reinforcing mesh. <br /> <br />Shapes: Fully embed reinforcing mesh in base coat. <br /> <br />Double Base-Coat Application: Where indicated, apply second base coat in the same manner and thick- <br />ness as first application, except without reinforcing mesh. Do not apply until first base coat has cured. <br /> <br />Apply finish coat over dry primer and base coat, maintaining a wet edge at all times for uniform appear- <br />ance, in thickness required by system manufacturer to produce a uniform finish of color and texture <br />matching approved sample. <br /> <br />Installation of Joint Sealants: Prepare joints and apply sealants to comply with applicable requirements <br />in Division 7 Section "Joint Sealants" and in "EIMA Guide for Use of Sealants with Exterior Insulation <br />and Finish Systems, Class PB."
