Submittal Date: <br />10/11/12 <br />Council Date: <br />10/22/12 <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM BRIEFING SHEET <br />Originating Department: Presented By: <br />Engineering, Planning & Shawn Napier, P.E., Director of <br />Development Engineering, Planning & <br />Agenda Item No.: <br />11. <br />RECOMMENDED MOTION: <br />Approve closing out the contract with NCM Demolition in the amount of $47,539.65 for the second <br />phase of Hazardous Materials Remediation of the Grand Theater. <br />POLICY ISSUE�S�: <br />Contract <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City of Paris was awarded a$200,000.00 EPA Brownfield Grant to clean up the Grand Theater. <br />The City's match for the grant was $40,000.00, for a total project budget of $240,000.00. <br />The City of Paris contracted with Terracon (environmental consulting firm) to determine what <br />hazardous materials and waste are on site and to developed plans and specifications for removal of the <br />waste. The project was split into two phases. Phase I cleaned up the fa�ade, entry area, slopped hallway <br />and the second floor above the slopped hallway. Phase II cleanup included the foyer area of both <br />theaters and about 1/3 of the main theater. <br />The costs are as follows: Architectural Inventory by Denney Architects (not to exceed $15,000.00), <br />administrative fees by Municipal Development Services ($10,000), Environmental services by Terracon <br />($66,480.00), 911 Restoration ($71,777.00) and NCM Demolition ($47,539.65).
