Draft <br />RESOLUTION <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />TEXAS TO CERTIFY LOCAL FUNDING AND SUPPORT OF THE <br />TRAIL DE PARIS PROJECT TO THE STATEWIDE <br />TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM FOR FUNDING <br />COMPETITION IN THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION 2012 PROGRAM CALL FOR PROJECTS; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACQUIRE TWO <br />PARCELS OF LAND FOR THE PROJECT SHOULD THE CITY OF <br />PARIS BE AWARDED THE GRANT; MAHING OTHER FINDINGS <br />AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT AND DECLARING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, The Texas Department of Transportation issued a call for <br />nominations in September 2012 for communities to apply for federal highway funding <br />assistance made available through the Transportation Enhancement Program; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Trail de Paris project will provide improved access and safety <br />for bicyclist and pedestrians to join neighborhoods, schools, parks, fairgrounds and the <br />local boys & girls club for a total distance of 2.0 miles in the City of Paris; and the <br />City proposes to submit a nomination requesting federal funding for assistance in the <br />amount of $533,259.72; and <br />WHEREAS, the program requires a minimum 20% local funding match in the <br />amount of $106,651.94 plus 100% of any overruns above the total project estimate of <br />$533,259.72. The City of Paris supports this funding this project as shown in the <br />nomination budget (including the 20% local match) and commits to the <br />project's development, implementation, construction, maintenance, <br />management and financing. The City is willing and able to enter into an <br />agreement with TxDOT by resolution or ordinance should the project receive <br />funding: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />SECTION 1. The City of Paris supports funding this project as shown in the <br />nomination budget and commits to the project's development, implementation, <br />construction, maintenance, management, and financing. The City is willing and able to <br />enter into an agreement with TxDot by resolution or Ordinance; <br />SECTION 2. That the City adopts Resolution approving the <br />submission of the project nomination; and the support and funding of the project should it <br />receive federal funds. <br />106 <br />
