RESOLUTION NO. 2012-085 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; AUTHORIZING THE PARIS VISITORS AND CONVENTION COUNCIL TO USE THE RODEO ARENA AT THE RED RIVER VALLEY FAIR GROUNDS FOR A PROFESSIONAL BULL RIDING RODEO EVENT TO BE HELD MAY 24, 2013; GRANTING ADDITIONAL ACCESS TO RODEO ARENA FIVE DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVEIVT AND TWO DAYS AFTER THE EVENT FOR SETUP AND CLEANUP; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, The Visitors & Convention Council of Paris, Texas ("V&CC") has requested authorization and approval from the City Council of the City of Paris to bring the second annual Professional Bull Riding-Rodeo Event to the Red River Valley Fair Grounds Arena on May 24, 2013; and WHEREAS, Upon authorization by the City Council and the Red Valley Fair Association, the V&CC will enter into an agreement with Mr. Lee Pedone ("Event Promoter") to put on a Professional Bull Riding-Rodeo Event at the Red River Valley Fair Grounds Arena, Paris, Texas on May 24, 2013; and WHEREAS, the Event Promoter will be responsible for providing sufficient liability insurance coverage for the duration of the PBR Event and shall name the City of Paris, Texas and the V&CC as an Additional Insured during the Event; and WHEREAS, the Paris Visitors & Convention Council has requested additional access and use of the Arena and surrounding parking areas for five days prior to the date of the PBR Event for preparation and staging and two days after the Event for cleanup; and WHEREAS, based upon information provided by the Paris Visitors and Convention Council and Chamber of Commerce Director, the City Council hereby finds that the Paris V&CC should be allowed use of the Arena at the Red River Valley Fair Grounds for the PBR Event to be held on May 24, 2013. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. The findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. The Paris Visitors & Convention Council is hereby authorized to use the Arena at the Red River Valley Fair Grounds and surrounding parking areas for a Professional Bull Riding-Rodeo Event to be held on May 24, 2013.
