Unless the name is followed by words indicating that no substitution is permitted, materials or equipment of other Suppliers may be accepted by ENGINEER if sufficien[ information is submitfed by CONTRACTOR to allow ENGINEER to determine that the material or equipmen[ proposed is equivalent or equal to that named. The procedure for review by ENGINEER wil( include the following as supplemented irt the General Requirements. Requests for review af substitute items of material and equipment will no[ be accepted by ENGI- NEER Crom anyone other than CONTRACTOR. If CON- TRACTOR wishes to furnish or use a substitute item of material or equipment, CONTRAC'I'OR shall make writ- ten appliwtion to ENGINEER for acceptance thereof, certifying that the proposed substitute will perform ade- quately the functions and achieve the results called for by the generel design, be similar and of equal substance to that specified and be suited to the same use as that spec- ified.
