Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Septermber 19, 2012 <br />Opening: <br />The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:05 p.m. On September 19, <br />2012 in the Ga11ery by Chairperson Linda Vandiver. <br />Present: <br />Pat Books, Alice Woodazd, Deborah Hatley, Fran Neeley, Hilda Mallory, Linda Vandiver, and Library Director <br />Priscilla McAnally. <br />I. Approval of Minutes: <br />T'he minutes of the previous meeting were approved as distributed. <br />II. New Business: <br />A. Judy Vickers, Library Paraprofessional for Acquisitions and Circulation, presented a summary of her <br />duties: ordering and receiving all acquisition materials; checking invoices and submitting requisitions <br />to Director and City Finance Ofiicer; entering invoices into Polaris by category; handling <br />problems and scheduling of personnel for circulation desk; completing time sheets to submit to City <br />Hall; working the electronics reference desk as needed; shelving books; reading shelves daily. <br />B. The Director presented the first draft of a Strategic/Long Range plan for the Library requesting <br />Board members peruse and bring back suggestions. <br />III. Old Business: <br />Considering the bookdrop refurbishment, Mike Herton of Mike's Paint and Bady has been designated to <br />do the job for $400 -$500, using industrial grade paint and clear coat. Cost will be paid by the Friends of <br />the Library. It was suggested that the Historical Commission be contacted before changing color of <br />paint. <br />N Presentations: <br />A. Budget Report <br />$18001eft in Materials, but we will go over the $100,000 mark, with needed funds made up from <br />Memorials funds. <br />B. Statistical Report: <br />Circulation and Library Visits down. <br />V. Friends of Library Report <br />A, Friends spent $350 to buy books for 1-2 year age group for the October Read to Me program. <br />B. Expended $440 to Interlibrary Loans. <br />C. Schools urged to get library cards for g/t students not presently involved with us. <br />VI. Director's Remarks: <br />A. Director discussed the need for well-constructed, attractive rolling book shelves. <br />B. Thursday, October 4, Sydney Young will be reviewing author Toni Morrison's novel HOME. <br />C. Director distributed revised Computer Workstation Rules to go into effect September 20, 2012. <br />D.
