Special Budget Wark Session
August 28, 2000
Page 8
that under Buildings, the requested amount was $94,000.00 to build a storage
building for Fire Station No. 1 and $14,500.00 to store two rescue boat, two
lawn mowers along with miscellaneous small tools. Also included is a burn
building that meets state standards and will cost $76,000.00. City Manager
Malone said his proposed budget omits requests for the storage building and
the burn building and landscaping. City Manager Malone said there is
$594,000.00 being carried forward to finish the two substations. Steve
Burgin, Fire Chief, came forward asking that the storage building be left in the
budget because they do not have a place to store the boats and lawn equipment
and things of that nature. Chief Burgin stated that they were unable to use the
shop at Fire Station No. 1 because it is being used for storage, which includes
gas and oil. The City Manager said under Motor Vehicles there was a request
of $31,080.00 for a 3/4 ton four door pickup for the Training Officer, and he
budgeted $22,000.00 for the purchase of a Crown Victoria Police Package
which can be used by the training officer and can be used to take personnel to
out of town training.
Chief Burgin again urged the City Council to keep the storage building in the
budget.
Mayor Pfiester suggested that Chief Burgin be allowed to look at this request
and see if he can come up with something that will keep him revenue neutral
with what is in the budget at this time and bring back a proposal to the City
Council.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Councilman Carter,
seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Manning, to adjourn the meeting. The motion
carried 6 ayes, 0 nays.
MICHAEL J. PFIESTER, MAYOR
