City Council Meeting <br />August 24, 2000 <br />Page 4 <br />taxpayer living in that house an additional $30.14 a year. City Manager Malone <br />said that the rate that has been proposed in preparing the budget is less than <br />that, which is 61 cents per one hundred valuation causing an increase of $12.36 <br />a year increase. <br />Mayor Pfiester called for a show of hands for the record vote on the tax rate for <br />the calendar year 2000 for the City of Paris. A motion was made by <br />Councilman Bell, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, with a show of hands <br />of Councilman Bell, Mayor Pro Tem Manning, Councilman McCarthy, <br />Councilman Gray, Mayor Pfiester, and Councilman Plata voting to consider a <br />tax increase which would raise the tax rate to 61 cents per one hundred dollars <br />of valuation. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays, with Councilman Carter being <br />absent. <br />Resolution No. 2000-125, setting September 13, 2000, for a public hearing on <br />the City of Paris proposed budget for fiscal year 2000-2001, to be held at the <br />Red River Valley Fairgrounds, Building B, located at 1750 6th Street N. E. A <br />motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Manning, seconded by Councilman <br />McCarthy, for approval of the resolution. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays, <br />with Councilman Carter being absent. <br />Resolution No. 2000-124, calling a public hearing for Wednesday the 13th day <br />of September, 2000, at 6:00 P. M. at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in <br />Building B, 2750 6th Street N. E., for the purpose of hearing the views of <br />proponents and opponents of the tax increase required to fund and balance the <br />City Manager's proposed budget for fiscal year 2000-2001. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Bell, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Manning, for approval <br />of the resolution. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays, with Councilman Carter <br />being absent. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Bell, seconded by Councilman Plata to <br />adjourn the meeting. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
