Special City Council Meeting <br />February 13, 2001 <br />Page 6 <br />hospitals and doctors where we can cater to the seniors that spend money <br />elsewhere instead of in this area. <br />Marcy Annett, 930 Cope Drive, was present speaking on behalf of the <br />Archery Club, and stated that she is in favor of the natural development of <br />the Lake Crook area. She said she was against the residential development <br />because of the restrictions of the use of the lake. <br />Mary Lou Coe, 3020 Hubbard Street, came forward stating thatshe feels very <br />positive about what Don Wilson said and felt that there was enough land to <br />do both the recreational and residential development. She said she would <br />love to see the north side of Lake Crook developed and would like to see the <br />south side developed for recreational. <br />Charles Baxter, Route 11, Box 620, Paris, Texas, appeared before the City <br />Council and discussed the additional roads and trash that new <br />improvements bring to the lake area. Mr. Baxter said he did not feel that <br />people should have to pay for the improvements at the lake as far as taxes <br />going up. Mr. Baxter said he would like to see the recreational part come in <br />and the clubs that are already located at the lake should be able to continue <br />as they are presently located. <br />Michael Pentecost, 6375 Lakeview Drive, was present speaking in favor of <br />a large portion of the lake property being developed as planned communities <br />including walking tracks, tennis courts, playgrounds forchildren and picnic <br />areas. Mr. Pentecost said there has been some concern voiced about cost <br />to the city, but the City Council should consider future tax revenues that <br />would come from people moving into this area. <br />Jan Williams, 515 42"d S. E., came forward stating that the citizens of Paris <br />will benefit more from dual development of the lake area because citizens, <br />whether they use the facilities or not, are doing business in the City of Paris. <br />They will use contractors; they will shop in the city; and they will use the <br />medical facilities. All of those things will benefit from the new business that <br />partial development will bring. Ms. Williams said the partial development of <br />the residential property and the new money that brings in to finance all of <br />the nice things that people have mentioned. She said all of those things are <br />going to cost every citizen money unless you come up with a new revenue <br />to pay for those things. <br />Dr. Lawrence Love, 815 39t" Street S.
