City Council Meeting <br />February 12, 2001 <br />Page 8 <br />amount of $33,560.00 from Grace Industries, Inc., who is the only known <br />supplier for these units. <br />Rick Evans, Interim Fire Chief, came forward explained that the T-PASS <br />system is a personnel accountability system that allows a firefighter who <br />may be injured, trapped or that is rendered unconscious at an emergency <br />incident scene to be located by other firefighters. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Gray, seconded <br />Mayor Pro Tem Manning, to award the bid to Grace Industries, Inc., in the <br />amount of $33,560.00. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2001-009, ordering the regular Municipal Election for the <br />City of Paris, Paris, Texas, to be held on the first Saturday in May 2001, <br />same being the 5t" day of May 2001, between the hours of 7:00 o'clock <br />A.M. and 7:00 o'clock P. M., by the qualified voters of Districts 4, 5, and 7 <br />of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, with early voting for the same being <br />conducted in the City Hall Annex West from the 18t" day of April 2001, <br />through the 1St day of May 2001, Monday through Friday, between the <br />hours of 8:00 A. M. and 5:00 P. M., for the purpose of electing the Council <br />Members from each of said Districts to serve as members of the City <br />Council for the ensuing two (2) years, was presented. A motion was made <br />by Councilman Bell, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, for approval of <br />the resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Malone presented a resolution supporting the efforts of the <br />Fannin Rural Rail Transportation District to continue rail operations and <br />transportation service along feeder tracks within Lamar County and Paris, <br />Texas. <br />Sue Fancher, 3930 Miranda, came forward stating that she was here to <br />speak for helping the rail district do everything they can to become a viable <br />short line railroad. Ms. Fancher said the reason she became involved is <br />that she believes in rural America and that the railroads are vital to helping <br />stay connected for rural America, and in this instance there is a line and <br />a railroad, which is Fannin County Rail District. Ms. Fancherexplained that <br />there is a four mile piece of track that will determine whether this rail <br />district can be a viable working short line railroad. Ms. Fancher said she <br />did not believe that this has to be a win-lose situation. She said she has <br />been in conversation extensively with the rail district and the railroad that <br />
