WHEREAS, to the extent a portion of the value of said vehicle as a trade-in should be <br />reimbursed to the City, the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross has offered $7,000.00 <br />to defray in part the value of the vehicle as a trade-in; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court of Lamar County likewise has petitioned the City, on <br />behalf of Lamar County, to act favorably on the request of the Lamar County Chapter of the <br />American Red Cross for transfer of the aforesaid surplus vehicle to be used as a disaster relief vehicle <br />by the Red Cross, and in so doing, Lamar County has authorized payment of forty percent (40%) of <br />the remaining value of the trade-in after the adjustment for the $7,000.00 contributed by the Red <br />Cross, or forty percent (40%) of $8, 503.00, to be paid pursuant to the County's current contract with <br />the City of Paris for ambulance service, whereby Lamar County pays forty percent (40%) and the City <br />of Paris pays sixty percent (60%) of the unreimbursed cost of the expenses of said ambulance service; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, the Red Cross has indicated such a disaster vehicle would be used to treat local <br />victims of the city and the county in a disaster; would be used as a canteen to serve food, provide <br />blankets, and other basic necessities during a disaster; would be used in the city and the county as a <br />first aid station for a variety of community purposes; and would be used to replace an existing disaster <br />vehicle currently in a state of disrepair; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the transfer of said surplus vehicle <br />to the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the purposes to which it would be <br />utilized as a disaster relief vehicle, constitute a public purpose and use to the betterment of the public <br />health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the city of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br />Section 2. That a model year 1997 Ford F350 Type 1 Ambulance, Vehicle Identification <br />Number IFDKF3FOVEBI8087, currently designated by the City EMS Service as Medic 4, because <br />of its age, mileage, general condition, and extensive use, shall be and is hereby designated as <br />obsolescent and surplus property no longer appropriate for use as an ambulance by the City of Paris <br />EMS Ambulance Service. <br />Section 3. That the offer of a$7,000.00 contribution by the Lamar County Chapter of the <br />American Red Cross to defray a portion of the value of the Medic 4 ambulance as a trade-in towards <br />the purchase of a new ambulance is hereby accepted. <br />Section 4. That the offer of Lamar County to defray forty percent (40%) of the value of the <br />Medic 4 ambulance as a trade-in vehicle towards the purchase of a new ambulance, the same being <br />forty percent (40%) of $8,503.00, or $3,401.20, said amount to be paid by Lamar County pursuant <br />to and in accordance with the County's current contract with the City of Paris whereby Lamar County <br />
