A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A LETTER OF AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF PARIS AND THE TEXAS HISTORICAL COMMISSION TO QUALIFY THE CITY FOR ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MAIN STREET GRADUATE CITY PROGRAM; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Paris has been extended the opportunity to participate as a graduate city in the Texas Main Street Program; and, WHEREAS, in order to participate in said program, the City is required to enter into a Letter of Agreement with the Texas Historical Commission which represents a commitment on the part of the City to continue as an "Official Graduate Main Street City"; and, WHEREAS, the aforesaid commitment contains mutual obligations on the part of the City and the Texas Historical Commission incident to said designation; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to accept said offer of official designation and to participate in the aforesaid program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, and the City Clerk to attest to a Letter of Agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A and for all purposes incorporated herein, by and between the City of Paris and the Texas Historical Commission to authorize the City to continue as an "Official Graduate Main Street City" and to participate as a graduate city in the Texas Main Street Program. Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
