DRAFT <br />J:\Attorney\ALICE\RESWORK\CiJRRENT\Fire Truck Donation 2001.wpd <br />December 7, 2001 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, DECLARING AS SURPLUS PROPERTY A 1968 MACK <br />FIRE ENGINE MODEL CF611F, SERIAL 1063, AND TWO OLD <br />HYDRAULIC RESCUE TOOLS; APPROVING THE SALE OF SAID FIRE <br />ENGINE AND EQUIPMENT TO TEXAS A&M FIRE ACADEMY FOR <br />CONSIDERATION THAT THE ACADEMY ALLOW TEN (10) PARIS <br />RECRUITS TO ATTEND BASIC TRAINING AT ONE-HALF (1/2) THE <br />REGULAR PRICE; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the 1968 Mack Fire Engine Model CF611F-1063, the Hurst brand rescue <br />spreader that was originally purchased in approximately 1980, and the Amkus brand rescue tool that <br />was purchased in approximately 1989, have been removed from service and are no longer being used <br />by the City of Paris Fire Department; and, <br />WHEREAS, said fire engine can no longer meet the State of Texas requirements for a front- <br />line engine and, therefore, does not assist the City of Paris in meeting its requirements in order to <br />maintain an advantageous fire rating; and, <br />WHEREAS, said fire engine and rescue tools still have value as pieces of fire fighting <br />equipment, but should be declared to be surplus property to the City of Paris and disposed of in <br />accordance with state law; and, <br />WHEREAS, Texas A&M University at Commerce, Texas, has established a Fire Academy <br />and fire degree program, and is desirous of purchasing said engine for parts for the one purchased <br />from the City previously, said purchase being for $1.00 and the further consideration of allowing ten <br />(10) Paris recruits to attend basic training at one-half (1/2) the regular price; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the citizens of the city of Paris that said <br />fire engine and rescue tools be declared surplus and sold to Texas A&M Fire Academy; NOW, <br />THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br />Section 2. That the 1968 Mack Fire Engine Model CF611F-1063,the Hurst brand rescue <br />
