DRAFT <br />J:\Attorney\Lisa\Ordinances\CiJRRENT\PD Composition Ord 2002.wpd <br />February 6, 2002 <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF <br />THE CITY OF PARIS BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTION 26-1 OF <br />SAID CODE, PROVIDING FOR EXPANSION OF THE POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF <br />ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That Section 26-1 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, <br />be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as follows: <br />"Sec. 26-1. Composition of department. <br />"The police department of the city shall be composed of the chief of police, and sixty- <br />seven (67) members classified as follows: <br />"(1) One (1) assistant chief. <br />"(2) Three (3) police lieutenants. <br />"(3) Eleven (11) police sergeants. <br />"(4) Three (3) police corporals. <br />"(5) Forty-nine (49) police privates." <br />Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby <br />expressly repealed. <br />Section 3. That this ordinance shall become effective on February 11, 2002. <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this l lth day of February, 2002. <br />Michael J. Pfiester, Mayor <br />
