i2/i3/iz <br />6.0 Librarv: Create and maintain a regionally-known, up-to-date, resource-rich, and reliable <br />library facility and function. <br />6.1 Improve the quality and condition of the existing materials. <br />6.1.1 Improve the physical condition of library collections. <br />6.1.2 Phase-out VHS and audio cassette formats by 09/14. <br />6.1.3 Annually identify collections for development/replacement, increasing annual <br />collections budget by 5% per year through 2016-17. <br />6.1.4 Continue weeding as appropriate, and based on standard library practice. <br />6.2 Develop creative methods to market the library and promote library materials and <br />programming. <br />6.2.1 Continuously train library staff in promoting library materials and programming. <br />6.2.2 Continuously promote use of online resources, both remotely and in the library. <br />6.3 Offer materials that will serve the community's wants and needs, and attract new users, <br />thereby increasing overall participation. <br />6.3.1 Manage an appropriate collections policy. <br />6.3.2 Expand the teen/young adult collection. <br />6.3.3 Continue to add high demand items such as best-sellers. <br />6.3.4 Continue to pursue innovative methods of offering content to users. <br />6.3.5 Conduct an analysis of recent decreased library usage, by 06/13, and make <br />course corrections to reverse trends, if possible, beginning in 2013-14. <br />6.4 Make the most of customer service opportunities, ensuring the library is accessible and easy <br />to use. <br />6.4.1 Educate patrons on the benefits of the library's Polaris system. <br />6.4.2 Educate patrons on the use of e-Resources available through the library for <br />various purposes. <br />6.4.3 Expand marketing efforts through multiple channels. <br />6.4.4 Host at least one special event annually, in conjunction with the Friends of the <br />Library and the city's library advisory board. <br />6.4.5 Develop a library newsletter to be published quarterly, beginning 03/13. <br />6.4.6 Consider minimal staff expansion in order to open full days on Monday. <br />6.5 Provide extremely high quality programs that educate, entertain, inform, and encourage <br />reading and life-long learning. <br />6.5.1 Develop adult and teen programs. <br />6.5.2 Work with local organizations to offer a variety of informative programs for the <br />community. <br />6.5.3 Increase participation annually. <br />12 <br />
