Proposal
Comprehensive Water Distribution System Audit
~
of the costs, potential regulatory ramifimtions, and a rost/
benefit analysis for each of the three City parks.
Rowlett Water System
1 mprovements/
Elevated Tank
Rowlett, Texas
(arter 8 Burgess completed a number of projects as part of
a major improvement of the Rowlett woter system. The
facilities included a new 1-MG elevated tank, 8 miles of
12- to 24-inch water lines, telemetry system improvements
and renovation of an existing 0.75-M6 elevoted tank. The
Rowlett Raad Pump Station included design of a 2-MG
ground storage tank, 24-inch water main, yard piping,
hydropneumatic tank, drainage system and connedions to
ezisting facilities. The water lines are lacated primarily in
developed parts of the ciry, requiring utiliry caardination
and construdion sequencing to minimize impads during
construdion. The projed also induded the develapment of a
computer model of the Lity's water distribution system
demand projections for a 30-year design periad ta assess
tuture water demands. Carter & Burgess also performed an
evaluation of the existing water distribution system capaciry
and pressures.
Cedar Crest Pumping
Station
Dallas, Texas
Carter 8 Burgess designed the 130-MGD Cedar Crest Pump
Station which consists of a 96-inch diameter suction line,
and 64-inch and 42-inch diameter discharge lines. The
Cedar Crest Station serves two pressure planes in the Ury of
Dallas, the Sauth High and Trinity Heights distribution
systems. The pump station's initial pumping capociry
consisted of three 8-M6D single-speed pumps and 1wo dual-
speed pumps (30 MGD each ot low speed and 42 MGD each
at highspeed). Cnrter & Burgess also designed and provided
wimess testing of iwo 42-inch Venturi meters and three 18-
inch Venturi meters. A SCADA data acquisition system was
designed in order to allow remote pump station operations.
landsmping to meet the City of Dallas landscape Ordinance
was also provided.
Carter:-Burgess
This project required innovative design elements related to
the site plan develapment, architedural treatments and
landscaping in order to allow this high-mpociry pump
statian, located an only 1.5 acres, to blend inta the adjacent
residential neighborhaod which consisted of a church,
residences and a golf course. The construdion administration
of this projed induded balancing the ronstmdion activities
while minimizing the disruption to the surrounding
community. Projed adivities alsa induded surface and
subsurface investigations, analysisofdesign altematives,
pump station hydraulic design, surge analysis, struduwl
design requirements based on specific site and sail candi6ons,
pump station ronfigumtians, securiry systems design, resident
construction administration services, ond eledrical/
instrumentotion, mechanical design, architedural design,
and smoke detedion and removal system design.
Circle T Ranch Fidelity
Water Master Meter ft
Water Line Along
SH 114
Fort Worth, Texas
Hillwood Development Corparatian officials plan ro supply
Fidelity Investments at Circle T Ran<h with water from the
City of Fort Worth.
Carter & Burgessemployees designed the masterwater meter
and water line olong Texas SH 114 that will bring the
water 6om the city of Fort Warth into the planned community.
