A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, RATIFYING AN APPLICATION FOR A U.S. FIRE ADMINISTRATION 2002 ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA); AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS; ACCEPTING SAID GRANT AWARD UPON NOTICE THEREOF; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR ACCEPTANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT UPON NOTICE THEREOF; MAHING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUB.TECT; AND DECLARINGAN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency provides funding far the U. S. Fire Administration 2002 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant application for the Assistance to Firefighters Program, at a total cost of $168,000.00, with $151,200.00 to be provided by grant and $16,800.00 to be provided by the City of Paris in the form of local matching funds; and, WHEREAS, the deadline for actual filing ofthe grantapplication occurred priar to the date of the next regular City Council meeting, and a timely application has been filed, subject to City Council ratification; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the Mayor, City Manager, Fire Chief, and other appropriate City staff to accept and implement said grant (if same is received) without further action of City Council; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the filing of an application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for a U.S. Fire Administration 2002 Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $151,200.00, being approximately 90% of the estimated cost of the Assistance to Firefighters Program, with the City of Paris providing $16, 800.00 in funds, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A and for all purposes incorporated herein, is hereby in all things ratified.
