Planning and Zoning Meeting <br />April 1, 2002 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Laura Dunn and Julia Sugg Spoke in favor of the petition for the Day <br />Care Center stating that the center would be small and they would try <br />to blend in with the rest of the neighborhood. A maximum of 24 <br />children would be kept at the center with hours of operation from 6:30 <br />a.m. until 6:00 p.m. A site plan was presented with parking explained <br />to the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br /> <br />David Nabors, opposed the petition with concerns of traffic on this <br />street, particularly .from Paris Junio.r College. Mr. Nabors stated that <br />it is hard to see when backing out of driveway and there might be <br />parking on the street. There are some day sleepers in the area that <br />would not appreciate the noise increase. Mr. Nabors expressed <br />concerns that dogs might be loose in the area and attack the children. <br /> <br />A letter in opposition was presented from his neighbor who was too old <br />to attend the meeting. <br /> <br />Ruth Riggs opposed the Day Care due to traffic. Also, Ms. Riggs did <br />not want the change because she said once changed, they would have to <br />live with the change. <br /> <br />There was no further opposition, the public hearing was declared <br />closed. <br /> <br />m <br /> <br />Consideration of and action on the petition of Julia Sugg a change in <br />zoning from a Two-Family Dwelling District (2F) to a Two-Family <br />Dwelling District (2F) With Specific Use Permit (25) Day Care Center, <br />Lot 30, City Block 252, being number 1801 Polk. <br /> <br />Motion was made to deny by Louis Yates and seconded by Cleveland <br />Thomas. Motion carried by a vote of 5 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Public Hearing to consider the petition of Faulk and Foster for a change <br />in zoning from a Planned Development District (PD) to a Light <br />Industrial District (LI), being number 3720 Lamar. <br /> <br /> <br />
