City Attorney Schenk also advised <br />that he has a call into the Attorney General's office, because the Attorney <br />General's office is the one that represents this commission and they are the one's <br />that prepared the contract. <br />City Attorney Schenk told the City Council that if they were to approve the <br />contract immediately, he recommended that it be conditioned upon the city <br />receiving assurance that the city will be a named insured on the Sports Car <br />Club's five million dollar policy. He also said the City Council could defer <br />passage of the ordinance until later in the year. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman McCarthy, seconded by <br />Mayor Pro Tem Manning, to table action of the resolution. The motion carried <br />7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2002-065, authorizing and directing the Mayor to execute on <br />behalf of the City of Paris, the Group Benefits Services Agreement with the <br />Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Employee Benefits Pool (TMI,- <br />IEBP) for (1) Term Life Insurance, (2) Stop-loss Insurance for its otherwise self- <br />funded MedicaUDentaUVision Program, (3) Third-Party Administrative Services <br />for the above coverage, (4) Maintenance Drug Program, and (5) Long Term <br />Disability, under the terms and conditions of the agreement, was presented. A <br />motion was made by Councilman Bell, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, for <br />approval of the resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2002-066, ratifying the filing of an application to the Federal <br />Emergency Management Agency for a U. S. Fire Administration 2002 <br />Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $151,200.00, being <br />approximately 90% of the estimated cost of the Assistance to Firefighters <br />Program, with the City of Paris providing $16,800.00 in funds, was presented. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Plata, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, <br />for approval of the resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
