SOU'fHERN OqAG 90ATASSDCIATIOw, 1NC.,PRESS RELEASE : Por Immediate Release in I.amar CountV Date ; 5-7-02 The Southern Drag Boat Asaociation would like to take this opportunity to thank the peop]e of Lamar County and NE Texas for their support che past3,years £or the Longhorn Nationals Drag Boat Itaces. This event has proven to be en outstanding race for our members as well as very economically beuefieial t0 the City of Patis aince its inception. Unfnrtunately the weekend originally applied for and peimined for the race (August31- Sept 1,2002) is evidenUy a very busy one in Paris, and there are no hotel rooms available for the paxtlczpants. As a result of this activity, the SDBA has decided to postpone this year's eveat until next year. We atudied the calendar and tried to find anothet date this year, but with races evety weekend ia 4 differentAsaociations occurring from April to September, it is a very dauntiag task tv schedule a date that doesm't conflictwith another Assaciation's eveat. The SDBA has however, been able to confirm with the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce and local hotel managemeat that the lsst weekend ofJuly starting in 2003 will be an acceptable weekend to them. The SDBA has also canfirmed that other ;4ssociations will be able to accommodate our race on this dete in the future without adversely affecting their events.
