PARIS EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE <br />TIMELINE: <br />1979 <br />City of Paris implements plan to provide ambulance service. <br />Previous ambulance providers include funeral homes, private <br />provider and hospital. Offer is made to Lamar County officials to <br />provide ambulance service countywide on a contractual basis. <br />1981 <br />Paris EMS upgrades all personnel to Basic Life Support (BLS) level. <br />1982 <br />Paris EMS upgrades level of service to Advanced Life Support (ALS). <br />1984 <br />Paris EMS upgrades level of service to Mobile Intensive Care Unit <br />(MICU) using Paramedics. <br />Workweek modified from 72 hours per week to 56 hours per week. <br />1989 <br />Non-Emergency transfer crew added to accommodate increased <br />non-emergency call load and emergency call overflow. <br />2000 <br />24/7 Emergency crew added to increase readiness and <br />accommodate emergency call volume. <br />COUNTYWIDE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SYSTEM: <br />.
