Item No. 22 <br />memo�andum <br />TO: City Council <br />John Godwin, City Manager <br />FROM: Robert Talley, Code Enforcement Supervisor <br />Engineering, Planning & Development <br />SUBJECT: Buildings & Standards Report: 2/20/2012 — 2/18/2013 <br />DATE: March 5, 2013 <br />BACKGROIJND: Due to a ruling from the Texas Supreme Court concerning Stewart vs. Dallas, <br />Buildings & Standards Commission meetings were put on hold from August of 2011 to February <br />of 2012. After the Texas Supreme Court amended their initial ruling, the Buildings & Standards <br />Commission resumed regular meetings on February 20, 2012. Since that time, the City Council <br />has allocated $400,000.00 of additional monies to the demolition budget. The Buildings & <br />Standards Commission has currently placed Orders on approximately 174 structures. There have <br />been 49 structures demolished totaling $133,859.48, averaging out to be $2,731.83 per structure. <br />In addition, 76 structures are awaiting service removals or demolition. Using the average of <br />$2,731.83 per structure, the additiona176 structures would cost $207,690.08 for a combined total <br />of $341,478.56. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: The Buildings & Standards Commission meets on the 3`a Monday of each <br />month and continues to review substandard structures. <br />BUDGET: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: N/A <br />�� <br />
