Library Advisory Board <br />May 15, 2002 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br />May 15, 2002 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session <br />Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at 4:00 PM in the Library with Chairman <br />Nancee Salzman presiding. The following members were present: Anna <br />Davis, Peggy Guthrie, Sarah Gambill, John Howison, Joyce Kennemer, <br />Vicki Terlap and Nancee Salzman. Also attending were Callie Thompson, <br />Friends President and Betty Landon, Library Director. Not attending <br />were Keith Williamson and Walter Williams. <br />The April 17, 2002 minutes were approved. <br />The budget looks good. The credit on Laundry and Cleaning was received. <br />There is approximately $98,000 left to spend on books. <br />Circulation showed an increase of 14.6% for April. The Library was open <br />26 days in April. Library visits were up in April because of school visits. <br />Memorials were down. <br />Children's Services presented 19 programs in April with 516 children and <br />107 adults attending. CASA presented storytime during the week of April <br />22-26 for the Week of the Young Child. Preschool Outreach presented 16 <br />programs with 253 children and 56 adults attending. <br />Adult Outreach Services had 43 interlibrary loans, 30 volunteer hours, and <br />presented 3 programs with 62 people attending. <br />Betty introduced Joyce Kennemer as a new board member. She is <br />replacing Fran Neeley. Betty will hold a Library Board Orientation for <br />new members at next month's meeting. <br />Friends of the Library President, Callie Thompson, reported on the <br />luncheon held on May 6t'' with 150 people attending. Jimmie Kennedy was <br />the speaker and was well received. The fall luncheon will feature Dale <br />Tanner. The Friends of the Library and Project Save will sponsor a <br />storyteller for the Library sometime during June or July for the Summer <br />
