BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS; <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br />Section 2. That Chapter 7, Article IV, Sections 7-71 through 7-100 of the Code of <br />Ordinances of the City of Paris, entitled "Moving of Buildings," shall be and is hereby amended to <br />redesignate said Article IV as Article V to Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances, entitled "Moving <br />of Buildings," and to renumber said Sections 7-71 through 7-100 as Sections 7-101 through 7-130 <br />respectively. <br />Section 3. That Chapter 7, Article V, Sections 7-101 through 7-119 of the Code of <br />Ordinances of the City of Paris, entitled "Mechanical Regulations," shall be and is hereby amended <br />to redesignate said Article V as Article VI to Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances, entitled <br />"Mechanical Regulations," and to renumber said Sections 7-101 through 7-119 as Sections 7-131 <br />through 7-150 respectively. <br />Section 4. That Article VI of Chapter 2, Sections 2-156 through 2-158 of the Code of <br />Ordinances of the City of Paris, entitled "Historic Landmark Preservation Committee," shall be, and <br />the same is hereby, as of the effective date of this ordinance, repealed and declared null and void and <br />of no further force and effect. <br />Section 5. That there is hereby adopted to the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris a new <br />Article VII to Chapter 7, Sections 7-151 through 7-164, entitled "Historic Preservation," to read as <br />follows: <br />"ARTICLE VIL HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />"Sec. -151.Title. <br />This ordinance shall be cited as the "Paris Historic Preservation Ordinance." <br />"Sec. 7-152. Purpose. <br />The city council hereby declares that as a matter of public policy, the <br />protection, preservation, and enhancement of districts and landmarks of architectural, <br />archaeological, cultural, and historic importance is necessary to promote the <br />economic, cultural, educational, and general welfare of the citizens of Paris. The <br />unique identity of the city of Paris and the history of the area prior to its founding, <br />which produced significant historic, architectural, archaeological, and cultural <br />resources, requires this ordinance to: <br />Page 3 of 15 <br />
