DRAFT <br />J:\Attorney\Lisa\Resolutions\CiJRRENT\IIistoric Preservation Comm - 6-02.wpd <br />June 14, 2002 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE HISTORIC <br />PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARIS; MAKING <br />OTHERFINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 17th day of June, <br />2002, in Ordinance No. 2002-033, create a Historic Preservation Commission empowered to <br />undertake certain actions and exercise certain responsibility related to the preservation of historical <br />landmarks and structures within the city; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Commission shall consist of seven (7) members and <br />two (2) alternate members, all appointed by the City Council, each of whom shall have a <br />demonstrated outstanding interest in the historic traditions of the city and experience in the <br />preservation of the historic character of Paris; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council shall endeavor, to the extent reasonably available, to appoint <br />members from the following categories: <br />1. Architect, planner or design professional; <br />2. Member of the Main Street Board; <br />3. Owner of or resident or tenant in a landmark property or property in <br />a historic district; <br />4. Member of a local Historical Society; <br />5. Three members at large; or <br />6. Other specific background as desired; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council deems it appropriate to appoint and for terms <br />of one (1) year, beginning August 1, 2002, and ending July 31, 2003, or until their successors <br />are appointed; and for terms of two (2) years, beginning August 1, 2002, and ending July <br />31, 2004, or until their successors are appointed; as an alternate member for a term of one (1) <br />year, beginning August 1, 2002, and ending July 31, 2003, or until (his/her) successor is <br />appointed; and as an alternate member for a term of two (2) years, beginning August 1, 2002, <br />and ending July 31, 2004, or until (his/her) successor is appointed; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS, <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br />Section 2. That and be, and they are hereby, appointed to serve as members <br />of the Historic Preservation Commission of the City of Paris for terms of one (1) year, beginning <br />August 1, 2002, and ending July 31, 2003, or until their successors are appointed. <br />
