Airport Advisory Board
June 18, 2002
Page 2
seconded by J. W. Ashmore. No other person was nominated to be Vice
Chairperson and Vic Ressler was elected by acclamation.
IV. Status of the self service fuel system:
Mr. Haynes explained to the Board that at the last meeting the City
Council approved for the purchase a self service credit card fuel system
for AV gas by J. R. Aviation. J. R. Aviation would then suspend the
monthly payment for AV gas to the City of Paris until the cost of the self
service system is paid off. The cost approved by City Council was
$19,295.95 which was the amount of the only bid received. The next
step in this process is a contract between J. R. Aviation and the City of
Paris for the purchase of the self service fuel system. The contract
should be available in approximately two weeks.
V. Status of TxDot Aviation Approval of a new helicopter landing site:
No new information on the approval of undesignating the current
helicopter pad and moving it to another location.
VL Discussion of recognition of airport namesake, Charles Mac Cox:
A motion to remove this item from the table was made by J.W. Ashmore
and seconded by Don Morrell. The motion passed unanimously. J.W.
Ashmore reported on the research to get a picture of Charles Mac Cox. He
went to the Paris Junior College archives and got a class picture of him.
Ashmore than had the picture blown up to 5" x 7" and took it to a local
artist, Jamie Carter, for her to do an oil portrait . The 16" x 20" framed
portrait will cost $250.00. Mr. Haynes thanked Mr. Ashmore for his work
on this project. Once the portrait is completed, we will have a plaque
engraved with the vital information that will be below the painting.
VIL Status of proposed Cox Field brochure:
Mr. Haynes passed out the final revised brochure for the Board to review.
One additional change was made to include the wording "serving general
aviation". Haynes advised we were getting prices and would go to PEDC
and the Chamber of Commerce to help pay for the brochure. Haynes
thanked the Board for their help in preparing the brochure.
