Library Advisory Board <br />July 24, 2002 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br />JULY 24, 2002 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session <br />Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at 4:OOPM in the Library with Chairman <br />Nancee Salzman presiding. The following members were present: Anna <br />Davis, Sarah Gambill, Nancee Salzman, Joyce Kennemer, Peggie Guthrie, <br />and John Howison. Also attending was Betty Landon, Library Director. <br />Not attending were Vicki Terlap, Walter Williams, and Keith Williamson. <br />The May 15, 2002 minutes were approved. There were no minutes for <br />June. <br />The budget looks good. A few negatives appeared, but Betty stated that at <br />the end of the fiscal year everything will be in good shape. <br />Circulation has increased. Library visits are up, and Library patrons have <br />increased. The Library received 14 memorials in May amounting to <br />$250.00. In June, 53 memorials were received amounting to $1,102.50. <br />Preschool Outreach presented 41 programs in June with 899 children <br />attending and 250 adults. In July, they presented 16 programs with 376 <br />children attending and 82 adults. Children's Services presented 13 <br />programs in June with 456 children attending and 106 adults. At the last <br />program, they made banana splits. The theme for the summer programs <br />was mysteries. Friends of the Library paid for a presenter to do the <br />Preschool programs. <br />Adult Outreach had 42 interlibrary loans and 30 volunteer hours. They <br />presented 3 programs with 62 people attending. <br />Betty Landon, Library Director, presented an orientation for Board <br />members. She reviewed the By Laws and stated that we needed to elect <br />new officers in July. She also explained NETLS. They provide money <br />from the state to libraries. They also have jobbers that will give libraries a <br />discount on books and processing of books. She stated that Board <br />
