HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF PARIS <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING <br />Friday, June 28, 2002 <br />12:16 p.m. <br />Rick Poston called the meeting to order at 12:16 with the following Board members present: <br />Rick Poston, Jeff Hoog and Zeph Gibson. Also attending Executive Director Denny Head. <br />Agenda Item 4-A. Approval of Disposition Request. Denny Head informed the board that the <br />Model 721 Grasshopper lawnmower was replaced. Bids were accepted for the sale of old <br />Grasshopper mower. Minimum bid $2000.00. The PHA purchased a new Grasshopper mower <br />for $8,000.00. Motion was made by Jeff Hoog to accept disposition to sell the old 721-model <br />Grasshopper and seconded by Zeph Gibson. <br />Agenda Item 4-B. Bad Debt Write Off 2002. The bad debts write off for 2002 was $26,162.46. <br />The write off for 2001 was $84,000.00. The bad debt write offs include utilities, other excess <br />utilities, maintenance charges, move outs, etc. Denny explained that bad debts included tenants <br />that were evicted, deceased, and others have moved and have not been able to be located. Denny <br />informed the board that the 2002 bad debt was a 75% improvement from the previous year. <br />Motion was made to accept Bad Debt Write Off's for 2002 by Zeph Gibson and seconded by Jeff <br />Hoog. <br />Agenda Item 4-C. Approval of Section 8 Budget. The new Section 8 Budget is $50,000.00 less <br />than year 2001 due to the reduction in the PHA vouchers. <br />HUD representatives Eva Withers and Gary Catisico visited the Paris Housing Authority and <br />reviewed the MOA. HUD representatives will return to the Paris office to conduct training with <br />employees and commissioners. Denny informed the board that the visit from HUD was a <br />productive visit and that all went well. <br />Executive Director Denny Head informed the board that the Housing Authority Inspector was <br />terminated. The Authority is currently advertising for the Housing Inspector position. In <br />addition, the PHA is currently advertising for the Comp Clerk position as per request from HUD. <br />Rick Poston asked for further business, and there being none asked for a motion to close <br />meeting. Motion was made by Zeph Gibson and seconded by Rick Poston. <br />
