memoandum
TO: Mayor & City Council
John Godwin, City Manager
FROM: Shawn Napier, P.E.
Director of Engineering, Planning & Development
SUBJECT: 600 to 1000 BLOCK OF W. WASHINGTON ZONING CHANGE
REQUEST
DATE: May 3, 2013
BACKGROLIND: Mrs. Stephanie Hall submitted a zoning change request on April 16th to
change the zoning on four lots (27.145 acres), located in the 600-1000 Block of W. Washington
Street. The zoning change requested to change the zoning from Heavy Industrial (HI) to
Commercial District (C). Mrs. Hall and her husband Mike would like to build a single family
home on the properiy.
STATUS OF ISSUE: City Staff has had several phone conversations with Mr. Mike Hall and
his surveyor Brandon Chaney, R.P.L.S. about his proposed development. Mr. Hall indicated he
had no immediate plans other than to build a single family home at this time. The Future Land
Use Plan shows Light Industrial (LI) zoning at the proposed home location. Homes are not
allowed in Light Industrial (LI) zoning. Staff recommended that the Halls withdraw the zoning
change until we can meet and work out a solution. The City received an e-mail from Mr.
Brandon Chaney of Chaney Engineering asking that the zoning change be withdrawn.
BUDGET: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: No action is necessary, the application has been withdrawn.
5?
