Library Advisory Board <br />August 21, 2002 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br />August 21, 2002 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session <br />Wednesday, August 21, 2002, at 4:OOPM in the Library with Chairman <br />Nancee Salzman presiding. The following members were present: Anna <br />Davis, Sarah Gambill, Nancee Salzman, Joyce Kennemer, Peggie Guthrie, <br />Vicki Terlap, and Walter Williams. Also attending was Betty Landon, <br />Library Director. Not attending were John Howison and Keith <br />Williamson. <br />The July 24, 2002 minutes were approved. <br />The budget looks good. Spending on books is continuing. <br />Circulation has increased 15 % since last year. Some of that increase is <br />because the Library is now open on Monday. Library card holders are up <br />200 since this time last year. The number of videos is down because lost <br />videos were withdrawn. increased. There were 29 memorials in July <br />amounting to $540. Volunteer hours were down and the Library received <br />fewer reference calls in July. The Library has a new online database, <br />Novelist, that will help patrons find fiction. <br />The Library participated in the 4th of July parade with 12 kids and 7 <br />adults attending. The Summer Reading Club presented 4 programs in <br />July with 63 kids and 25 adults attending. The Children's Reading <br />Program presented 1 program with 7 kids and 7 adults attending. One <br />program was presented at HMHP Lakes Regional with 6 kids attending <br />and 5 adults. <br />
