Regular Council Meeting <br />May 13, 2013 <br />Page 7 <br />those type of announcements should not be made until confirmed in writing, because it was not <br />fair to the residents. <br />Mr. Gilbert said he was planning to give the PEDC budget to the board on Tuesday. <br />Council Member Drake asked that the Council get the PEDC budget in advance of it being <br />presented to Council. Council Member Frierson said while in Austin for Lamar County Days, he <br />heard from several people that the PEDC was doing a good job. Council Member Jenkins said <br />he hoped that PEDC would continue to bring jobs to Paris. Council Member Grossnickle asked <br />for a comparison of the budget between this year and last year. Mr. Gilbert said this years' <br />budget was $600,000 and last year it was $800,000. Mayor Hashmi thanked Mr. Gilbert for his <br />report, reminded Mr. Gilbert that said he was going to decrease the PEDC overhead by 40% and <br />asked that he continue his quarterly reports to the CiTy Council. He also reminded Mr. Gilbert to <br />cautiously use funds for qualified 4A projects, because the funds were from taxpayers. <br />26. Convene into Executive Session pursuant to Section 551.071 of the Texas Government <br />Code, Consultation with Attorney, to receive legal advice from the City Attorney about <br />pending or contemplated litigation and/or on matters in which the duTy of an attorney to <br />his client under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of <br />Texas, clearly conflict with this chapter, as follows: Ed Darnell v. Union Pacific <br />Railroad and City of Paris; Cause No. 81476, 6th Judicial District Court, Lamar County, <br />Texas. <br />Mayor Hashmi convened City Council into executive session at 6:48 p.m. <br />27. Reconvene into Open Session and possibly take action on those matters discussed in <br />Executive Session. <br />Mayor Hashmi reconvened City Council into open session at 6:53 p.m. A Motion to <br />approve the City of Paris to represent Robert Talley in the Ed Darnell lawsuit was made by <br />Council Member Drake and seconded by Council Member Lancaster. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 <br />nays. <br />28. Adjouniment. <br />There being no further business, a Motion to adjourn was made by Council Member <br />Frierson and was seconded by Council Member Drake. Moti n carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays.
