"Sec. 12-1. Composition of department. <br />"The fire department of the City shall be composed of the fire chief, fire <br />marshal-assistant fire chief, and fifty-four (54) members classified as follows: <br />"(1) One (1) fire training officer. <br />"(2) Three (3) deputy fire chiefs. <br />"(3) Twelve (12) fire engineers. <br />"(4) Six (6) firefighter drivers. <br />"(5) Thirty-two (32) firefighters; provided, however, that the number of <br />firefighters shall be reduced each time a vacancy shall occur in any <br />departmental position authorized under this section, until such time as the <br />total number of authorized firefighter positions is reduced by five (5), to a <br />total of twenty-seven (27) firefighters. " <br />Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby <br />expressly repealed. <br />Section 4. That this ordinance sha11 become effective on October 1, 2002. <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 26th day of September, 2002. <br />Michael J.
