Minutes of Regular Meeting <br />Paris-Lamar County Board of Health <br /> <br />The Paris-Lamar County Board of Health held its regular meeting on Wednesday, September 25, <br />2002 at Christus St. Joseph North. Board members in attendance included Ms. Vickie Bonham, <br />Mrs. Ann Norment, Dr. Edward Clark, and Dr. Robert Moseley. Others in attendance included <br />Judge Chuck Superville, Mr. Anthony Bethel, Mrs, LaDonna Koehn, Mr. Paul Swasko and Mrs. <br />Carla Rhodes. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:15. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. <br /> <br />Mr. Bethel reported that the Bioterrorism Grant started on June 1, 2002, but a R.N. has not been <br />hired, so none of the Grant money has been spent in case the Regional Health Department takes <br />the Bioterrorism Grant back. <br /> <br />Mr. Bethel reported that a truck and equipment is needing to be purchased in FY03 for spraying <br />mosquitos, but there is no money in the budget for this purchase, he would need to do line item <br />budget. He explained that one of the spraying trucks and equipment was stolen and was found in <br />Dallas striped. Mr. Bethel stated we need to either get another truck and equipment or get out of <br />the spraying program. He stated spraying the adult mosquitos isn't what kills out mosquitos, it's <br />killing the larva in ditches. Health Department does not have a grant for spraying. Mr. Bethel <br />stated that he has sent offmany dead birds but the first one was found to have West Nile Virus on <br />Sept. 24, 2002, and he was told not to send any more off since West Nile is in Lamar County. <br /> <br />Board members and others in attendance gave the following suggestions, use County inmates to <br />spray ditches, check on grant for West Nile Virus, County Commissioners m/ght have a truck to <br />purchase. Also contact Rojuan at the RSVP program at PJC for free service to do spraying, hire <br />personnel to do spraying and check on insurance on stolen truck and equipment. <br /> <br />Mr. Bethel states the law suit that the Heakh Department is in goes to court, Tuesday, October 1, <br />2002. Billing clerk is still in the budget. <br /> <br />Mr. Bethel states program auditors will be in the Health Department October 7-9, 2002, and next <br />week financial auditors will be auditing. <br /> <br />Mr. Bethel passed out monthly reports to the board and went over the reports with board <br />members. <br /> <br />Mr. Bethel states he is working on a grant for teleconference, used for teaching personnel and <br />patients. Nurses could get CEU's. There will be a match of 10% ($4000.00), required by the <br />Health Department for the teleconference grant. Also the Health Department is now responsible <br />for testing and medications for HIV positive inmates in the county jail. <br /> <br />Mr. Swasko announced about the Stake Holders Meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
