Library Advisory Board <br />September 18, 2002 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br />September 18, 2002 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session <br />Wednesday, September 18, 2002, at 4:OOPM in the Library with Chairman <br />Nancee Salzman presiding. The following members were present: Anna <br />Davis, Sarah Gambill, Nancee Salzman, Peggie Guthrie, Vicki Terlap, and <br />John Howison. Also attending was Betty Landon, Library Director and <br />Callie Thompson, Friends President. Not attending were Joyce Kennemer, <br />Walter Williams and Keith Williamson. <br />The August 21, 2002 minutes were approved. <br />The only areas of budget being spent are salary and books, since the <br />budget ends on September 30, 2002. The new budget begins on October 1, <br />2002. <br />The Library saw a slight drop in most areas of circulation for August. <br />However, the figures show that they were higher overall than this time last <br />year. August is usually a slow month for the library and there were no <br />Children's programs for August. <br />The Children's area will begin Tuesday night Bedtime Storytime Hour and <br />they will hold a birthday party for Curious George on September 19, 2002 <br />to celebrate his 60t'' birthday. Birthday cake and banana splits will be <br />served. <br />Adult Outreach presented 3 programs with 45 attending. Interlibrary <br />Loans had 76 transactions. Twenty-eight memorials were given in August <br />for a total of $675. <br />Betty Landon, Director has attended budget hearing meetings all week <br />with the City Council. Betty stated that she had cut $93,000 from the <br />
