Library Advisory Board October 16, 2002 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD October 16, 2002 The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, October 16, 2002, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chairman Nancee Salzman presiding. The following members were present: Anna Davis, Sarah Gambill, Peggy Guthrie, Vicki Terlap, John Howison, Joyce Kennemer, Nancee Salzman and Walter Williams. Also attending was Betty Landon, Library Director and Callie Thompson, Friends President. The following changes were made to the September minutes: The presenter at the Friends' Luncheon is names Dave Tanner, not Dale Tanner. Also, the minutes stated there was no Friends report and there was. After the changes were noted, the minutes were approved. The approval of our new Board Member, Kevin Gray, was not put on the City Council agenda, so no introductions will be made until November's meeting. There was no budget report this month as it is the end of the fiscal year. Betty noted that we will be under budget, but she does not have the final figures yet. September stats showed 2,500 new cards have been issued this year. Josie, the stats keeper had an accident this month and was off for two weeks. As a result, she's a bit behind. On Saturday, October 12th, 692 people came to the library! In Children's Services, they are focusing on their upcoming Car Maintenance program which will include give-aways to participants like oil changes, etc. The department had 4 programs in September serving 32 children and 26 adults. They hosted one Bedtime Program which included 5 children and 3 adults. On September 19th, they held their Curious George 60th Birthday Party. Thirty-three children and 20 adults enjoyed banana splits and birthday cake. Finally, the department also held a Fire Prevention Week program which included tours of a rescue truck and use
