Library Advisory Board <br />October 16, 2002 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br /> October 16, 2002 <br /> <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session <br />Wednesday, October 16, 2002, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chairman <br />Nancee Salzman presiding. The following members were present: Anna <br />Davis, Sarah Gambill, Peggy Guthrie, Vicki Terlap, John Howison, Joyce <br />Kennemer, Nancee Salzman and Walter Williams. Also attending was <br />Betty Landon, Library Director and Callie Thompson, Friends President. <br /> <br />The following changes were made to the September minutes: The <br />presenter at the Friends' Luncheon is names Dave Tanner, not Dale <br />Tanner. Also, the minutes stated there was no Friends report and there <br />was. After the changes were noted, the minutes were approved. <br /> <br />The approval of our new Board Member, Kevin Gray, was not put on the <br />City Council agenda, so no introductions will be made until November's <br />meeting. <br /> <br />There was no budget report this month as it is the end of the fiscal year. <br />Betty noted that we will be under budget, but she does not have the final <br />figures yet. <br /> <br />September stats showed 2,500 new cards have been issued this year. Josie, <br />the stats keeper had an accident this month and was off for two weeks. As <br />a result, she's a bit behind. On Saturday, October 12th, 692 people came to <br />the library! <br /> <br />In Children's Services, they are focusing on their upcoming Car <br />Maintenance program which will include give-aways to participants like oil <br />changes, etc. The department had 4 programs in September serving 32 <br />children and 26 adults. They hosted one Bedtime Program which included <br />5 children and 3 adults. On September 19th, they held their Curious George <br />60th Birthday Party. Thirty-three children and 20 adults enjoyed banana <br />splits and birthday cake. Finally, the department also held a Fire <br />Prevention Week program which included tours of a rescue truck and use <br /> <br /> <br />
