RESOLUTION NO. 2013 -015 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR AN AUTOMOBILE BURGLARY & THEFT PREVENTION AUTHORIZING GRANT FOR CONTINUATION OF OUR AUTO THEFT TASK FORCE; THE TOTAL OF THE GRANT IS EXPECTED TO BE $198,139.00 WITH A CASH MATCH FROM THE CITY TOTALING $49,744.00 ALONG WITH A $1,000.00 "IN- KIND" MATCH IN THE 2013 -2014 POLICE BUDGET; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR ACCEPTANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT UPON NOTICE THEREOF; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Texas Automobile Theft Prevention Authority provides funding for automobile theft prevention grants; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris desires to apply for an Automobile Burglary & Theft Prevention Grant entitled "Northeast Texas Automobile Theft Task Force" project beginning September 1, 2013 and ending August 31, 2014, in the amount of $198,139.00 including a cash match from the city totaling $49,744.00 along with a $1,000.00 "in- kind" match in the 2013 -2014 Police Budget, for continuation of our existing Auto Theft Task Force; and, WHEREAS, the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager, Police Chief, and other appropriate City staff to make application, accept and implement said grant (if same is received) without further action of City Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That an application to the Texas Automobile Burglary & Theft Prevention Authority be made and approved for an Automobile Theft Prevention Grant entitled "Northeast Texas Automobile Theft Task Force" project for the year beginning September 1, 2013 and ending August 31, 2014, in the amount of $198,139.00 with a cash match from the city totaling $49,744.00 along with a $1,000.00 in -kind match" in the 2013 -2014 Police Budget. Section 3. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, appointed as the Authorized Official of said project and is authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, an application for said grant.
