M I - <br /> 2013-2014 Budget <br /> Department 85 <br /> Sewer M aintenance <br /> The Director of Public Works is the administrative officer responsible for this division of the Public Works <br /> Department funded out of the Water and Szwer Fund. Employees of this division are responsible for the <br /> maintenance and operation of all wastewater collection lineswithin the dyt limits, maintaining approximately 195 <br /> milesof gravity sewer lines, 9.28 miles of pressure sewer linesand 2,000 manholes. <br /> Department 86 <br /> Wastewater Treatment <br /> The Director of Utilities is the administrative officer responsible for this division of the Utilities Department funded <br /> out of the Water and Szwer Fund. Employees of this division operate the wastewater treatment plant, the sludge <br /> disposal fields, and the master lift station. The Environmental Szrvices personnel ensure compliance with all <br /> enfironmental regulations, enforce the sewer use ordinance, and manage the Industrial Pretreatment Program <br /> required by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The <br /> Environmental Szrvices Laboratory performs tests on water and wastewater to assist the plant operations, ensure <br /> compliance with state and federal permits, and maintain potable water quality. <br /> Department 87 <br /> Lift Stations <br /> The Director of Utilities is the administrative officer responsible for this division of the Utilities Department funded <br /> out of the Water and Szwer Fund. Employees of this division operate and maintain fifteen sewage lift stations and <br /> two bypass retention basins located in different areas of the city. These lift stations pump wastewater to the <br /> wastewater treatment plant. Lift Station personnel also operate and maintain the Row Equalization Basins and <br /> Pump Station located on Stillhouse Fbad, and the alarm system connected to all stations. <br />
