CJD Grant Application - Page 7 <br /> <br /> VAWA PROJECT NARRATIVE & SUMMARY <br /> <br />PART 1: PROBLEM STATEMENT AND DATA <br /> <br />Type the problem statement and data hero... <br /> <br />The specific problem to be addressed by this application is the increased amount of violent crimes against <br />women (including domestic violence} in the City of Paris,Texas. Below is data compiled from the Paris <br />Police Department Records Division from previous years: <br /> <br />1997 - 1288 cases investigated rosulting in 303 arrests <br />1998 - 1347 cases investigated resulting in 281 arrests <br />1999 - 1340 cases investigated resulting in 289 arrests <br />2000 - 1271 cases investigated rosulting in 473 arrests <br />2001 - 1198 incidents reported to Paris Police Department <br />The 2001 figuros can be broken down further. Of 1198 cases investigated, 122 on-view ~rrests wero made. <br />213 cases were investigated by the CAW officer, rosulting in 43 arrests made by warrant. 130 cases wero <br />dismissed by the complainant. 40 cases wero determined not-prosecutable. <br /> <br />A report generated by Family Haven indicates the Family Haven Liaison served 780 clients during the grant <br />pedod. <br /> <br />PART 2: GOAL STATEMENT <br /> <br />Type the goal statement here... <br /> <br />To decrease the number of violent crimes against women by dedicating one officer and a Family Haven <br />Liaison to addrossing this problem through enforcement action, community education, and an improved <br />working relationship between law enforcement and social services. <br /> <br />PART 3: TARGET GROUP <br /> <br />Geographic Area: The City of Paris <br />Type of Victimization: Violent crimes and domestic violence <br />Gender:.
