SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS <br /> December 17, 2002 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas met in special session, <br />Tuesday, December 17, 2002, 6:00 P.M., Paris Junior College, Applied <br />Technology Building, Room 1016, 2400 Clarksville Street, Paris, Texas. <br />Mayor Michael J. Pfiester called the meeting to order with the following <br />Council Members present: John F. Bell, Richard Manning, Joe E. <br />McCarthy, Francine Neeley, and Benny Plata. Councilman Weekly was <br />absent. Also present were City Manager Michael E. Malone, City <br />Attorney Larry Schenk, and City Clerk Mattie Cunningham. <br /> <br />Invocation was given by Councilwoman Francine Neeley. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2002-196, approving the form of the Mutual Aid <br />Agreement with the County of Lamar for the provision of mutual aid in <br />the event of disasters, that the Mayor of the City of Paris be, and he is <br />hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, <br />the Mutual Aid Agreement, was presented. A motion was made by <br />Councilwoman Neeley, seconded by Councilman Plata, for approval of the <br />resolution. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2002-197, repealing Resolution No. 2002-176, approving <br />and authorizing a grant application to the office of the Governor, Criminal <br />Justice Division, through the Ark-Tex Council of Governments, for a <br />Violence Against Women Act Grant in the amount of $104,733.00, with the <br />City of Paris providing $26,183.00 in the form of in-kind services, was <br />presented. A motion was made by Councilman Bell, seconded by Mayor <br />Pro Tem Manning, for approval of the resolution.
